First of all, log into your Facebook account. After opening the Facebook account hovers the mouse over existing older profile picture. Now you will see an option called “Update Profile Picture”. Now click on the option “Update Profile Picture”. Select the existing newer one uploaded earlier if it is required. Else upload the new image by clicking on “Upload Photo” button. The newer photo should be there on computer memory in advance.

Secondly, if you set it as new profile picture it will be seen by everybody automatically. But in this article we want to restrict the notification of Change in Profile picture publicly. For this we need to make this update “Private”. Go to Profile Image Sign and click on it. Then few options will be seen, we have to click on option “Only me”. That’s it, now your new update will not be seen by anybody except you.
