Laptops is embedded with it's own MousePad which makes it portable. This is the major difference between Laptops and PCs. We don't need to carry additional mouse if MousePad works successfully. Solution 1: Run Hardware and Device Troubleshooter

Step 1: Go to Search bar and type Settings and press enter to continue. When settings windows will open, click on Update and Security. On Update and Security Window, click on Troubleshoot Option at the left side of the Window. 

Step 2: On Troubleshoot Page, Scroll down to Right section of the Page. You will found Hardware and Device Troubleshooter. Click on Hardware and Device Troubleshooter and select Run as administrator. Follow the wizard till end of troubleshooting.

Solution 2: Update MousePad Driver

Step 1: Go to Search bar, type devmgr and press enter to continue. Press Device Manager (Control Panel) from the list. When device Manager Window will open. Scroll down to Mice and Other Pointing devices. Click on Inward Arrow sign to open the driver which is installed in our PC. 

Step 2: After Clicking the Update Driver option, a new Window will open.

Then, Click on "Search automatically for updated driver software". System will search for the available updated driver for MousePad.

Then, Click on "Search Online for driver..."and then on "Downloading Drivers".

Finally, the downloaded files are installed successfully and hence problem is solved.

Solution 3: Run SFC (System File Checker) Scan 

It will be beneficial in case of file corruption. System files can be corrupt and lead to many installation-related problems. It can be repaired easily by running the SFC scan. Read the method to run SFC (System File Corruption) scan.

Step 1: Go to Search bar and type “Command Prompt” and click on match content. Right click to open Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 2: Type sfc / scannow and press Enter to continue. It will take a few minutes to scan and repair. Once the scan is complete, restart the computer and see the changes.

Solution 4: Rollback the MousePad driver

Step 1: Go to Search bar, type devmgr and press enter to continue. Press Device Manager (Control Panel) from the list. When device Manager Window will open. Scroll down to Mice and Other Pointing devices. Click on Inward Arrow sign to open the driver which is installed in our PC.

Step 2: Right-Click and select Properties. When Properties Windows will open, click on Driver Tab. Scroll down to Roll Back Driver button and Click on it.

 It will bring roll back to the previous driver installed in your PC. Finally, click on Yes to confirm and Restart the Computer to see the changes. 

Solution 5: Uninstall and then reinstall the MousePad driver

Step 1: Go to Search bar, type devmgr and press enter to continue. Press Device Manager (Control Panel) from the list. When device Manager Window will open. Scroll down to Mice and Other Pointing devices. Click on Inward Arrow sign to open the driver which is installed in our PC.

Step 2: Right click on Installed driver and select Uninstall from the list. Select Yes when you get a confirmation message. Now Restart the Computer. Window will automatically detect the change in driver and then install the Mousepad driver during restart. When Computer opens, check the workings and hence this will solve the problem. Solution 6: Install Touchpad Driver in Compatibility Mode

Step 1:  Visit the Official website of MousePad driver and download the latest Mousepad driver from it. Save the setup file in your USB drive. Open the USB Drive and right click on the Setup file and select Properties. When Properties window will open, click on Compatibility tab. Check mark on "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select the Operating System running in your PC from the drop down list.   

Step 2: Click on Apply and then OK to Save the Changes. Close the Properties Window. Run the Setup file. It will be installed keeping in mind the compatibility mode. Restart the computer and see the changes. Hope it will solve the issue. 

Solution 7: Use Windows generic Mouse Pad driver

Step 1: Go to Search bar, type devmgr and press enter to continue. Press Device Manager (Control Panel) from the list. When device Manager Window will open. Scroll down to Mice and Other Pointing devices. Click on Inward Arrow sign to open the driver which is installed in our PC. 

Step 2: Right click and select Update Driver. A new Window will open with two options, select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software". Solution 8: Disconnect all attached Peripheral devices

If any of the above procedures does not solve the issue. You have to perform a practical new attempt. There must be few Peripherals attached to you Laptops like Printer, External Mouse, External Keyboard, Camera, Sound Box, etc. Unplug all of them at once and restart the Laptop.
